Make Something May – Day 9

I had grand plans for today.  I signed the hubs and I up to make some hanging herb gardens from Home Depot, but when we showed up 10 minutes before it was scheduled to start, no one knew what we were talking about. 🙁  Turns out, I had signed up after the woman facilitating had checked the class roster and it appears that no one had signed up before me, so she cancelled it.

She was super nice about everything and felt terrible and I insisted that it wasn’t a big deal – I certainly wasn’t going to expect her to hurry to gather things up just for us.  She did however print out all of the instructions and offer to hold a private session for me and anyone else who wanted to join.  Her hospitality was certainly appreciated and I will absolutely give the DIY classes another chance. Also, if you’re interested in making one for yourself, you can find the .pdf instructions here.

While we were already at Home Depot, we bought some hanging ferns and some potted dahlias for our little stoop area in the front of our house and we also bought some seed packets. I’ve been wanting to try my hand at growing my own herbs for quite some time now and it was pretty much now or never considering we’re in the beginning/middle of our season for our zone here in the midwest.  I bought 10 packets of seeds and some soil to pot it in while at Home Depot, then we made a quick stop at the Dollar Tree on the way home so I could get some cute pots.  And of course, I couldn’t help but to use my trusty Silhouette Cameo to make some vinyl labels for the pots before I stick them outside to get growing. 🙂

I’m not gonna lie – I have no idea what to use most of these in, but I think I’ll cross that bridge when I get there.  I trust that if  I can get them all growing, I’ll figure out something to make that will use them. 🙂
