Cutlery Tray Remix

Something like 7 or 8 years ago, I lived in Philadelphia by myself and needed to buy general household staples.  You know, things like dishes, silverware, glasses – things you’d expect a grown-up to have.  With little money and not knowing where to go exactly, I explored the wonderful world of IKEA.

If you’ve never been to IKEA before, I’m sorry.  You’re missing out on something amazing.  I definitely have a love affair with IKEA and can’t wait for one to open right here basically in my own backyard.  I was spoiled in Philly where there are 2 to shop from if the mood strikes you.

Anyway, I digress.  I went to Ikea to purchase a wonderfully inexpensive set of flatware for my newfound adult life and with the set came a wooden cutlery tray.  The cutlery tray wouldn’t fit in my drawers at the apartment I lived in then, but for some reason, I just couldn’t stand to throw it away.  Even after moving something like 4 more times, I still kept it – something told me I’d use it some day.

Well, that some day was realized when I had a bunch of weird little knick-knacks that I wanted to display but couldn’t figure out what exactly to do with them.  I then remembered the cutlery tray stuffed in a closet in the basement and with some stain and some scrapbook paper, it worked PERFECTLY!

I still need some more knick-knacks (I know – that word makes me sound like I’m 80, but whatever), but here it is today!  I couldn’t be happier!
