Christmas Savings Plan

Christmas Savings Plan

Yes, you read the post title correctly….it’s June and I just titled a post with the word “Christmas.”  I may be slightly fanatical about Christmas – it’s my favorite holiday by far and I can’t wait for it to get here.  I’m not ready to put up the tree and start hanging lights now or anything, but I do want to start thinking about the budget for Christmas.

Every year we seem to wait until we start seeing the previews for black Friday ads and we realize we planned poorly for gifts, decorations, baking, etc… so we have to be somewhat choosy with how we spend our Christmas budget.  This year though, we’re going to be a little more proactive and start our Christmas savings plan now.

Beginning Monday, each week we will be setting aside a small amount each week so we won’t be in the same shape we normally are for Christmas.  The plan isn’t to encourage more costly and extravagant gifts or to buy things for ourselves, but to use the funds for anything and everything related to the holiday, including gifts, food, decorations, wrapping paper, travel, christmas cards….you get the point.  🙂

Feel free to download a copy of my Christmas Savings Plan.  It’s editable, so you can adjust it based on your own goal for your Christmas budget.
