How I Love To Get My News

How I Love to Get My News – The Skimm

Ok, first of all, let me just say that this is not a sponsored post.  I literally have no affiliation with The Skimm other than I am a loyal reader and I love them.  It’s just literally how I love to get my news.  So, with that being said, let me tell you a little bit about why I love to get my news from The Skimm.

Convenience

This is seriously the easiest and most convenient way to stay up-to-date on current events.  Every morning when I wake up, before I even get out of bed I check my e-mail and open my Daily Skimm.  In probably about 2 minutes I’m able to see little snippets of recent events in small tidbits for me to easily digest and know what’s going on in the world.  I don’t have much time in my day to spend watching the news, I don’t have a commute to be able to listen to the radio in the car, and I don’t have the patience to sift through twitter or online news sources to read up on current events.  Don’t get me wrong, I turn the news on every night in hopes of hearing it while I’m making dinner or playing with the kiddo, but I don’t usually devote my undivided attention to it.  The Skimm literally skims all current events and puts it in a nice little package for me to wake up to every morning.

Exactly What I Need

Let’s be real – there’s a lot going on in the world and it’s impossible to keep up with everything that’s happening.  It’s all important and it’s all relevant, but in my everyday encounters with co-workers and such, there are just some things that are going to come up more-so than others.  So for me, I need to know just enough about current events to allow me to participate in conversation and know what’s going on in the world.  I’m sure to some this may sound as though I don’t care about what’s happening in the world around me, but that’s not true at all.  I work full time, I have a family, I have a small business, and I’m taking classes…this is not to brag nor to say how much time I don’t have in my day (which isn’t much), but rather to demonstrate my need to know what’s going on, but on several levels.  It’s impossible for me to keep current and well read on everything, so The Skimm does the reading for me and tells me just what I need to know.  Additionally, their daily emails also have links to further news stories so if there is a topic I care to educate myself on a bit more, I’m able to do so.
