Week 1
It is one of my FAVORITE times of the year….the One Room Challenge!! If you’re not familiar with the ORC, it’s an 8 week challenge for anyone who loves DIY and design. I’ve participated in the ORC 3 previous times and clearly I love it because I keep coming back for more! It has been a great opportunity to explore the current trends in home decor, collaborate with amazing brands, and meet some really great, talented people.
For the Spring 2022 One Room Challenge, I’m going to be working on my master bathroom. It’s one of the only rooms in the house that hasn’t been touched since we moved in to our new build home 4 years ago. I don’t hate everything about this bathroom, but I don’t love everything about it either.
Here’s a look at how the master bathroom looks now…
So, what am I thinking for this room?
- Linen Closet – I took the doors off of the linen closet a month or two ago because I couldn’t stand them never getting closed and then the door to the bathroom hitting them, or them squeaking in the middle of the night when I needed to grab something. So now I want to create a beautiful and FUNCTIONAL closet that will be easy to maintain.
- Vanity – The vanity we have is currently the plain white one that the builders installed, and while I wish I could put in a brand new vanity, it’s just not in our budget right now. So instead, I plan to paint the vanity a charcoal color – something dramatic is what this bathroom needs!
- Mirror – This one I’m still on the fence about. I plan on doing something with the mirror, I’m just not sure at this point if I want to frame the current mirror or replace it with medicine cabinets. Either way, it will be an improvement over what’s currently there.
- Vanity Light – We only have one vanity light above our dual sinks and while it functions fine, it’s kind of ugly. Ok, maybe that’s a harsh word and not totally fair, it just doesn’t fit with what I’m wanting to create. So, I’m definitely going to switch out the light for a new one, and I’m debating on whether I want to try to tackle installing two lights in place of the current one, or just install one. I suppose time will tell….and how much time I run out of! 🙂
- Wall Color – The walls are currently still the plain white they were when we moved in, but not nearly as pristine, so I’ll be painting most of the bathroom walls, with the exception of wallpaper on a few accent walls.
- Floor – Now this one I feel totally comfortable saying – I HATE the current flooring. It’s a vinyl pattern made to look like tiles and I have literally hated it from day 1 in this house. I cannot wait to change it!
Whew! I’m tired just typing all of that! Actually doing it in 8 weeks is definitely going to be a challenge, but it’ll worth it when it’s all done!
If you want to follow along on my journey, I’ll be posting daily updates to Instagram, so pop in, say hello, and give me all the encouragement and pep talks because I’ll need it!
