Christmas is my absolute favorite time of year. The baking, the snow, the Christmas lights – EVERYTHING! One of the parts I love most about Christmas is the ability to get crafty and creative, which is why when I look forward to the annual ornament exchange hosted by Erlene at My Pinterventures. This event allows several bloggers the opportunity to get craft in the name of Christmas spirit and make an ornament to exchange with another blogger.
For this DIY ornament, I wanted to make something a little fancier than the traditional rustic style ornaments I make for my own tree. I love the look of the wood bead ornaments and garland that are all over Pinterest these days, so I wanted to play off of that and instead use metallic colored beads and a metallic tag. All supplies for this ornament cost less than $10 and they took less than 10 minutes to make – how’s that for a great DIY project!
So here’s what you’ll need:
- beads of various sizes and colors
- metallic gift tags
- jewel charms
- string or thread
- needle
Before I started stringing beads, I wanted to lay them out to make sure I liked the pattern, the colors, and the length.
Once I was happy with the layout of the beads, I threaded string through the metallic gift tag, then I threaded the beads onto the string and tied a loop at the end. To finish it off, I attached a jewel charm to the gift tag for a little extra sparkle.
That’s it! That’s literally all there is to making this super simple, super quick, DIY ornaments!
